Description[]
A Wall is a defensive structure that can be built in Empire Earth for 10 Stone per segment. Walls can be turned into Gates, providing that there are 5 consecutive wall blocks in a straight line.
Walls can be used as palisades to warn of enemy approach, slowing down enemy advances cheaply, and as protection for inside units. Pre-modern ranged units such as Long Bows, Composite Bows, and Slingers can attack from one side of the wall onto the outside. Bombards, Artillery, Colossus Artillery, Hand Cannoneers, Trench Mortars, and Heavy Mortars also have this ability, yet the upside is that they have an area effect damage.
Walls are upgraded in Capitols through the Upgrade Walls & Towers button.
They are heavily damaged by siege cannons such as Serpentines, Howitzer Cannons, and Paladin Cannons.
Variants[]
The Art of Conquest expansion introduces two alternate types of walls - the Palisades, which cost 10 Wood instead of Stone, but have half the HP of a Copper Age wall and do not upgrade with other defences, making for a cheap but unreliable defense method for later epochs. Gates can be created the same way as for classic walls (5 consecutive blocks in line).
The second variant is the Bamboo Wall, which is a Scenario Editor-only building that is present in the Pacific Campaign. Costs 8 Wood.
