Description[]
The Partisan is an infantry unit in Empire Earth that has the ability to travel through forests. They become available in the Industrial Age. They cost the same as the non-specialized infantry of their Epoch, the Grenadier.
Strengths[]
A cheap unit that can shoot against Aircraft. A primary means of defense from air units (which is yet to become staple at the Epoch they appear), they can be useful to take down Hot Air Balloons that attempt to spy on your town. Another possible use of the Partisan are as scouts or planted raiders: by setting their Engagement Behavior to Scout and boosting their Range value, Partisans can be used to spy on enemy expansions to some effectiveness, especially ones that rely on the natural cover of surrounding trees. Players can use Partisans to ambush a besieged town from an unlikely angle, killing its Citizens as the primary defenses are forced to engage the more obvious threat.
Weaknesses[]
Wiped out by Imperial Cuirassiers and is easily outmatched per-unit by any other ranged infantry of its Epoch, even Grenadiers. It should also be noted that ranged units can still attack targets inside forests. Thus, when Partisans face enemy units that can out-range them like Sharpshooters, their best option is to take advantage of their more flexible option of pathfinding and flee further in a direction where those units would have a difficulty keeping up. They are obsolete units in World War I.
