Horus Ascendent is the fifth and final scenario of the Egyptian Campaign in Empire Earth II: The Art of Supremacy.

Briefing[]

Scenario Description:

Egypt, 2164 BC. - Egypt, 2152 BC. - It is clear that Osiris has abandoned the people who inhabit the kingdom of Herakleopolis. For nearly 30 years the Nile has refused to give up but a small portion of its life-giving silt and soil. Neighboring nations circle about the kingdom like vultures waiting for an old buffalo to drop from exhaustion. And now word has come that the Southern Kingdom of Thebes desires this land for themselves. For many years they have made offers and entreaties, claiming that in them Osiris still lives and it is only they that can make the Nile well her banks and once again turn the Valley of Kings green with life. If tribute is not paid to them, then they will march on the city and take it for themselves. War, it seems, is inevitable. Once more the hero Kemsa must lead his people to victory, through force of arms and through wit and guile.

History[]

The growing power of nomarchs grew throughout Nefekare's reign. Towards the end of his reign, Nefekare appointed a second vizier for ruling Egypt, stationed in Thebes, to rule Lower Egypt. Nefekare's extremely long period on the throne also likely cause discontent, and disrupted the normal line of succession. Additionally, foreign relations fell apart during this time, contributing to ongoing problems for Egypt's Old Kingdom. Its unclear who succeeded after Nefekare's passing.
