Description[]
The Flame Thrower is a siege, ranged infantry unit. They are effective against buildings. They are available for World War II and Modern Age.
They are very effective against buildings and can easily decimate them even in small numbers. They can also attack other lands units, but are not as effective.
Unlike the other anti-building land unit, the Howitzer Cannon, the Flame Thrower has a very short range for a unit in the Atomic Age, this rules out attacking Towers from safe distance as an option with them. They also inherit the weakness and advantages of other infantry, being able to make turns faster than a siege weapon, loadable into helicopter transports and are able to be healed by Medic, but are easily killed by Tanks, Marines, Machine Gun, Artillery, Snipers and even F/B hybrid aircraft.
For said reasons, Flame Throwers are better to jump in amidst a winning onslaught when the enemy's defenses are splintered and the defending combatant unit are overwhelmed, because they can't safely take on towers and are easily killed by a wide variety of combat units. They're especially good for taking on utility buildings such as Granaries, Houses, Universities, Hospitals, Clergy buildings and Settlements, while the Howitzers target tougher vital targets like Gates, Unit production buildings, Capitols, stationary AA installments and Towers.
