A Phalanx is a pierce infantry unit available for the Bronze and Dark Ages. It costs 55 Food and 55 Iron to upgrade to a Spearman in 40 . The Phalanx upgrades to the Pikeman, which costs 80 Food and 80 Iron (also within 40 ).
Unit Strategy[]
Phalanxes remain the counter to shock infantry and cavalry. They are more powerful, but less durable, than the Short Sword, their shock counterpart. Certain civilizations have bonuses on these units.
Strengths[]
Strong against Short Sword and Bronze Cavalry.
Weaknesses[]
Very low resistance against arrows, leaving them vulnerable to archers like the Simple Bowman, Composite Bow, Elephant Archer and Chariot Archer.
