Cut content are files that were created during the development of a game, but were not included the final version. They are usually left behind in the game's folders. This page contains information on cut content from the games of the Empire Earth series.

Empire Earth[]

Beta unit names[]

Some units had different names during the development of the game, which were changed afterwards. However, the filenames were kept with old names. For example, the Guardian's filename is set as but_lasertrooper_13t, which hints the unit's name was initially meant to be Laser Trooper. Some also hint that units could have been present in Random Map Mode, but then became Scenario Editor-only, such as the Royal Guard, whose filename reads but_shortsword_04t.

This also happens with Heroes' files, which might have been changed due to possible problems with acquiring rights over some historical figures' names, such as Travis Shackelford, whose filenames contain "dpatton" (possible reference to general George S. Patton), or because the unit's target of representation could have been changed later on, as Hierakles is referred to as hector in his icon filename.

Hovercraft[]

A unit with unused model, texture, icon and even sound files, with its name on them. The purpose of the Hovercraft is unknown, but it could possibly be a model of a Digital Frigate, according to the fact that its production is disabled from the Digital Age onwards and that its icon background is colored bright blue, like for all other naval units'.

Beta upgrade icons[]

Colossus Artillery upgrade in-game

example of how one of the icons look like in-game.

There are some icon files that, according to their filenames, were supposed to be used as upgrade icons instead of the regular upgrade button. These files are simply the icons of the respective upgraded units, in a sepia filter. On the left are the icons of the buttons that would upgrade a Panzer Tank (AP) to a Leopard Tank (AP), and the icon of a Royal Guard, making it safe to assume that it was going to be the main shock infantry for the Bronze Age before being replaced by the Short Sword.

Mark II Ultra Cybers[]

The Cybers from the Cyber Laboratory have unused icons with different colors, just like the ones from the Cyber Factory, following the same cyan/purple/green color scheme, hinting they were originally planned to have second version for the Nano Age, just like their Cyber Factory counterparts. It is unknown why they were not included in the final version.

Unused unit icons[]

Unused Icons for units that exist in-game.

The Spy is an unit from the Russian Campaign who has its own icon - however, it shares the same icon as the Hauptmann Durer in-game. This was probably done by mistake, as the icons are very similar.

Centurion Tank icon variant. The visual of this icon is completely out of the pattern of other tanks, and hints that it had its original role swapped with the Hover Tank's. What makes this theory more plausible is the fact that the Hover Tank has two identical icon files that fit the pattern, and one of them is named but_nanotank_13t.

Alternate icons of the Bamboo Wall and Tower added in Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest. They share the same icons with the Palisades instead of using these. The reason is unknown.
