- For other epochs with the same name, see Bronze Age.
The Bronze Age (2,000 BC - 450 AD) was the fourth epoch in Empire Earth. It is representing the era when great empires like Assyria, Persia and Rome were forged. It introduces a full selection of land units, including siege weapons. The previous Epoch was the Copper Age. The next epoch is the Dark Age.
Overview[]
On the non-military facet of the game, the Bronze Age, or "Epoch IV", offers only further improvements on resource gathering, particularly thee first enhancements on Iron and Gold mining, while also offering attribute improvements via research for Clergies.
Walls and Towers can attain a new upgrade that lasts until entering Epoch VI.
Introduced in this Epoch, and strangely only last until one Epoch after, are the Elephant-mount units: The obviously-archer type Elephant Archers and the Piercing type War Elephant. Compared to horse-mounted Cavalry, they are slower but far more durable and formidable against infantry.
The biggest premiere of Epoch IV is perhaps the introduction of proper Siege Weapons and the Siege Factory building which produces them: The Catapult, a ranged siege engine effective against buildings (and to an extent, other siege weapons and ships); The Stone Thrower, the first available unit with default AoE value, effective against crowds of land units; The Ram, a melee, building-only siege weapon that is super resistant against Tower attacks; And lastly the Siege Tower, used to safely transport masses of infantry units through the onslaught of enemy infantry, or simply as a means to minimize the size of a long-marching crowd. These conventions will only be improved upon until Epoch VI, after which, gunpowder-based Siege Weapons replace them.
A less-known addition that aren't made available in auto-generated games are the Catapult ships, which are indiscriminately strong against all other ships and buildings, but have a very slow rate of fire.
