Description[]

The Artillery is a heavy Siege Weapon in Empire Earth. It is available in epochs 10-12 (World War I to Modern Age). It is the upgrade of the Bombard, a military cannon from the Imperial Age. The Artillery is just a slightly improved version of the Bombard, as it is stronger and does more damage. The Artillery is very vulnerable, with only 225 hit points and low speed, but it can shoot shells over walls, cliffs, hills, etc. It is much like the Heavy Mortar and Trench Mortar.

Strengths[]

Their massive area of effect, coupled with huge range (up to 18 with civ bonuses) makes them excellent at keeping ground units at bay. Despite their name, they are more effective at keeping masses of Infantry and other land units at bay.

Since they cannot see units as far as they can attack it's highly recommended to use Snipers or Balloons as Artillery Spotters so that they can attack enemy units from a long-range. In fact, they shine in this role along with defending walls from within.

Another idea is to use a Helicopter Transport (For sneak attack) to improve their mobility, in the case of incoming enemy's ground units.

However, due to its relatively strong attack and long-range, it can also be used to destroy buildings.

Weaknesses[]

Tanks are their best land-based counter with the superior speed they can quickly get in close and break the fragile Artillery. Fighter-Bombers, Helicopters, and Bombers are highly effective as well since the artillery cannot fight back.

With poor LOS (despite greater range) and fragile to other units, Artillery should be deployed with good protection by Infantry such as Marines or Tanks.
